Sunshine and Shadows

This series gave the opportnunity to explore two moths - the Golden Sun Moth which flies during the day and the Bogong Moth which flies at night. The Golden Sun Moth doesn't stray from its patch. It travels no more than 100 metres from where the catpillar develops after the egs are laid and then takes on its moth form. The Bogong Moth may travel up to 1000 kilometres to return to breeding grounds where it lays its eggs. The 'hatched' moth will make the return journey to the cool of the mountains. Both are species at risk as a result of habitat change and climate change. Scientists and community are working together to capture data and maintain habitat sites to enable the continued survival of these insects.
